Bridge Foundations, Peterborough

The Westpile division of Bachy Soletanche is carrying out installation of foundation piling for two bridge abutments at a new road bypass currently under construction in Stanground, Peterborough.

Westpile is installing 66 1200mm large diameter auger piles (LDA) for Peterborough Bridge and 43 900mm/750mm at Stanground Lode Bridge using a Bauer MBG24 rig.

Westpile subcontractors Martello Piling are using two restricted headroom rigs to install 45 900mm/750mm diameter LDA piles also at the Stanground Lode Bridge end of the bypass.

The restricted headroom rigs were required in order to be able to operate within an area of low overhead telephone wires.
