The Rose Bowl Building, Leeds

Westpile has commenced work on an £800,000 contract for the installation of a contiguous piled retaining wall and bearing piles in the first stages of groundworks for the new Rose Bowl Building being developed by Leeds Metropolitan University adjacent to its existing facilities at Portland Way, Leeds.
Mobilising one of the first BG-28 heavy duty CFA piling rigs to be used in the UK in order to penetrate the hard mudstone and siltstone of the site, Westpile will install a total of 292 piles of diameters from 600mm to 900mm, to depths ranging from 12m to 15.5m.
Westpile will also install 30 ground anchors for one elevation of the retaining wall.
The Rose Bowl development, which is bordered by Leeds Civic Hall on one side will also provide the new home for the Leeds Business School.
